Entry Level Job Descriptions Grain Merchandiser The job of a Grain Merchandiser can take several different directions, but the key to each is the building of relationships.
Our Originators are responsible for building those relationships with producers. This relationship combined with competitive grain bids and excellent customer service is vital to the origination of bushels of grain for our facilities.
Our Domestic Traders will work with other domestic trading houses to build relationships for our trading operations. These individuals are responsible for trading risk positions in truck, rail and CIF markets.
Our Export Traders build relationships with the end users. For our organization, many of these will be in the Asian markets, but these individuals have a world wide market place. Their goal is to provide a quality product in a timely fashion for the best value to the end user.
Operations Management Trainee The Operations Management Trainee program starts our young recruits on a journey that will yield a rewarding career in the extremely diverse culture of CGB. The trainee starts their training period at one of the many locations throughout the Midwest. The initial training period usually lasts 12-24 months. Once the trainee's performance warrants advancements to the next phase of training, they will be reassigned locally to a different terminal for further training or to assume a managerial role in the operation. The final phase of operations training would surface when the trainee assumes the role of Superintendent or Operations Manager at a CGB Terminal. Once the employee reaches this phase, more doors of opportunity open as the employee continues to evaluate their interests and career goals.
There is no such thing as a typical day for our Operations Managers. Every day is different and every day brings with it a new set of challenges. Our Operations Manager's most important job responsibility is guarding their employees' safety. This manager is also responsible for making sure that the facility is operating in an efficient and profitable manner. They will have direct input on personnel issues, financial decisions, construction projects and proposals, as well as the daily operations of the facility. Operations Managers enjoy an exciting career and can continue on the operational path or change direction into a different career area all under CGB's umbrella of companies. Whatever direction is followed, each new employee of CGB will experience a rewarding career in an ever changing global industry. Accounting Manager Our Accounting Managers key role is to report on the financial well being of the company by providing an accurate statement of the companys performance. Grain accounting positions are very different from public or corporate accounting positions. Our accountants must learn the many ways that grain is affected by varying factors in the storage and movement processes. Our accountants will learn other positions within the company to give them a better understanding of why and how our business performance changes from month to month. They play the entire field, know the entire business and ensure that when the numbers hit the bottom line, they are correct.
