Major Grain Facility Planned for Dwight

A major grain company announced today that they will be making a significant investment in the local agricultural economy.

CGB Enterprises (CGB), headquartered in Mandeville, LA announced their plans to construct a new grain facility on property located four miles east of Dwight, IL on State Route 17. They plan to build a grain terminal with shuttle loading capabilities on the NS Railroad. According to Greg Beck, Vice President of Grain Operations for the company, “We are very pleased to bring a significant new marketing option for local grain producers to the area. We expect this facility to be a premier location for receiving grain quickly and providing new marketing options for the area farmers.”

According to Beck, construction on the facility is expected to begin this summer and be completed in time to accept grains during the 2011 harvest.
“We recognize that one of today’s farmers & truckers most valued assets is time, especially at harvest, and the facility will be built to minimize and/or eliminate the time trucks are required to wait to be discharged” said Beck. “It will include three truck receiving pits with total inbound capacity in excess of 50,000 bushels per hour and include 2.2 million bushels of storage. In addition, it will have capacity to load 110 railcars on a loop track for continuous loading of unit trains.” The company projects that the facility will employ 6–10 local employees during peak handling periods.
